One honest limitation before you run it: the audit reads the page's raw HTML. Sites built with heavy client-side JavaScript rendering, common in modern React and Next.js sites, may return a partial score, since some signals can't be verified from HTML alone. The tool tells you exactly when this happens and which signals it could and couldn't check.

What each signal actually means

SEO signals

Title tag present and sized correctly.
The clickable headline in search results. Missing or oversized title tags get truncated or ignored by search engines.
Meta description present.
The summary text shown under a search result. Doesn't directly affect ranking but strongly affects click-through rate.
H1 present and unique.
A single clear page topic marker. Pages with no H1 or multiple competing H1s confuse both search engines and readers about what the page is actually about.
Heading hierarchy (H1 to H6) is logical.
Headings should nest in order, not skip levels or repeat H1 style throughout. A broken hierarchy makes a page harder for both crawlers and screen readers to parse.
Image alt text present.
Descriptive text for images, used by search engines (and screen readers) since they can't see the image itself. Missing alt text is a common and easy fix.
Internal linking present.
Links to other pages on the same site. Signals which pages matter most and helps crawlers discover content that isn't in the main navigation.
Page load signals.
Fast-loading pages get crawled more thoroughly and rank better, especially on mobile.
Mobile viewport configured.
A missing or misconfigured viewport tag causes mobile rendering problems, which both hurts user experience and search ranking.

GEO signals

Structured data (JSON-LD) present.
Machine-readable markup describing what a page is (an article, a product, a person, an FAQ). This is the clearest signal an LLM or search engine has for understanding page content without guessing.
Author or entity information present.
Schema or visible text identifying who wrote or is responsible for the content. Both search engines and LLMs weight content more when there's a clear, consistent author signal.
Content freshness signals.
Visible publish or update dates. Generative engines favour citing content that is demonstrably current over content with no date signal at all.
Clear factual claims with specifics.
Named numbers, sources, and specifics are what LLMs quote and cite. Vague, generic claims get paraphrased into nothing or skipped entirely.
Canonical URL set correctly.
Tells search engines and crawlers which version of a page is the authoritative one, preventing duplicate content confusion across similar URLs.
Sitemap and robots.txt configured.
Baseline discoverability infrastructure. Its absence doesn't just hurt search, it can prevent an LLM's crawler from finding the page at all.

AEO signals

Question-based headings present.
Headings phrased as questions (What is X, How does Y work) match how people phrase both search queries and prompts to AI tools, increasing the odds of being pulled into a direct answer.
Concise, extractable answer paragraphs.
A short, self-contained paragraph that fully answers the heading above it. This is the exact shape both Google's featured snippets and LLM-generated answers pull from.
FAQ schema present.
Structured markup specifically for question-and-answer content, which both Google's rich results and LLM training and retrieval pipelines can parse directly.
Definitional clarity for key terms.
Plain-language definitions of terms the page uses, rather than assuming the reader already knows them. Pages that define their own jargon get cited more often when someone asks what that jargon means.
Answer-first structure.
The direct answer stated before the supporting explanation, not after. Most AI-generated answers favour content that leads with the conclusion.
Logical paragraph length for extraction.
Neither a single wall of text nor fragmented one-line paragraphs. Extractable content sits in clear, complete, moderate-length paragraphs an answer engine can lift as a unit.

How to read your score

Each category, SEO, GEO, and AEO, is scored independently out of 100 (or shown as "unable to verify" when a JS-rendered page prevents accurate checking). There is no single combined score by design, since a page can be excellent for traditional search and invisible to generative engines, or the reverse.

Above 80 in a category means most of the core signals are present and correctly configured. Remaining gains are usually incremental.

50 to 80 means the foundation exists but several signals are missing or misconfigured. This is the most common range for established sites that were built for SEO before GEO and AEO existed as concepts.

Below 50 usually means a structural gap, not a few small fixes. Most commonly this means little to no structured data, no clear author or entity signal, or content that isn't organised into question-and-answer or answer-first formats at all.

It's common and expected to see a wide gap between categories. A page can score 85 on SEO with strong titles, headings, and load speed, and score 30 on AEO because none of its content is structured as direct, extractable answers. That gap is usually the highest-leverage fix available, since it often requires reorganising existing content rather than writing anything new.

Does this tool audit my entire website?

No. The tool audits a single URL at a time. It checks the raw HTML of the page you paste: the same version search crawlers and AI engines see. It does not crawl your full site or follow internal links. For a multi-page audit, you would need a dedicated crawling tool.

Why does my score show as partial?

If your page renders content via JavaScript (React, Next.js client components, Vue, Angular), the raw HTML is a shell without body content. SEO and GEO signals in the head tag are checked and scored normally. AEO signals: question headings, lists, paragraph structure cannot be verified without a rendered DOM, so they are skipped and marked as partial. Using server-side rendering or static generation gives you a complete score.

How often should I run an audit?

Run an audit whenever you publish a significant new page, after a site redesign, or quarterly as a health check. SEO signals are relatively stable but GEO and AEO requirements evolve quickly as AI engines mature.

What does a good AEO score look like?

A strong AEO score (75+) means your page has question-format H2/H3 headings, concise paragraphs under 60 words, at least one list or table, FAQ schema, and definition-style content that can be extracted as a standalone answer.

Why did my SEO score come back high but my AEO score low?

This is common, especially on sites built before generative AI search existed. Strong SEO signals like titles, headings, and page speed don't automatically translate into content structured as extractable, question-and-answer, answer-first paragraphs, which is what AEO specifically measures.

Do I need to fix all three categories at once?

No. Most sites benefit from prioritising whichever category scores lowest, since that's usually where a structural gap exists rather than a series of small tweaks. Fixing the lowest-scoring category first typically produces the most visible improvement.

Does adding structured data (JSON-LD) actually help with LLM citations?

Structured data doesn't guarantee a citation, but it gives both search engines and LLM retrieval systems a much clearer, unambiguous signal about what a page contains, which measurably improves the odds of being surfaced or cited correctly versus content an engine has to infer from unstructured text.
